About Cathie:

Hi I am Cathie Shipwright and a member of the Rotary Club of Truro. I am 54 and was born and brought up in Truro. I am married to John and have 2 grown up children Rachel and Dan and a granddaughter Olivia. I am a physiotherapist and have worked in the NHS locally for over 30 years, most recently as a project manager working on service improvement. My main role now is managing a disease self management programme for people living with long term chronic health conditions.

I am an outdoor person and love my life in Cornwall, walking the cliffs and beaches, swimming and surfing in the sea, exploring in my campervan and enjoying good food and wine!!

I joined Rotary two and a half years ago and absolutely love the fellowship and opportunity to serve my local community with such a great bunch of positive ‘can –do’ people. I have served on our international committee and am fascinated by the role of Rotary in international affairs. I love travel and during a recent trip to the Gambia with a local charity felt inspired to explore more opportunities to travel and serve overseas.

I am thrilled and honoured to be selected as the GSE team leader for district 1290 to visit India with our team in January 2012. The opportunity to experience a new country and culture with a group of young,  professional people is something I am very much looking forward to. It will also be great to meet fellow Rotarians and exchange ideas and promote Rotary projects both here and in India.
