About Ben:
Hi, I am Ben Sanders, I am 26 years old and I was born and brought up in the North Devon area of the U.K. I moved to Plymouth, South Devon in 2005 to complete my undergraduate degree in Multimedia Computing, followed by an MSc in Network Systems Engineering in 2007. I am currently working at the University of Plymouth as an associate lecturer and project supervisor in the School of Computing and Mathematics. In addition, I am currently in the final stages of my PhD research, which investigates the opportunities and risks in online gaming environments.
I enjoy the outdoors and love living close to the sea. In my spare time, I enjoy surfing, tennis and skiing. Furthermore, I am currently training to be a PADI Dive Master and my ambition is to become a PADI Dive Instructor. I enjoy travelling and have visited many countries both within Europe and beyond.
I am delighted to be selected as a member of the District 1290 GSE team to visit India in January 2012. This is a wonderful opportunity to visit a beautiful country rich in culture and history. I am particularly excited about making new long lasting friendships and to exchange knowledge on teaching methods and education. I am also excited to share my experiences in India with both my colleagues and students at my home institution. Finally, I am looking forward to learning more about Rotary International, meeting new Rotarians and deepening my understanding of the culture and history of India.
