The team made an impromptu visit to Kalol; a small city some 45 mins from Ahmedabad and met with members of the Rotary Club of Kalol. We were privileged to visit five fantastic Rotary projects:
Medical Store: A small tax-free, not-for-profit medical store has been setup in the centre of Kalol to provide underprivileged citizens with subsidised medicines. This facility enables the poorest of people access to much needed medical supplies that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford.
The Crematorium “Shantivan”: The Rotary Club of Kahol sponsored the renovation and restoration of a crematorium enabling underprivileged people to pay their last respects to their loved ones in a traditional and dignified fashion and at a much reduced rate.
Rotary Medical and Research Centre, Rajesh Hospital: The team were given a tour of Rajesh Hospital, where underprivileged people can receive crucial medical treatment at a fraction of the normal cost.
The team visited a Rotary sponsored school which gave underprivileged children a much needed education. The team met with many young and energetic children who were benefitting from the great work of the Rotary Club of Kalol City.
Rotary Children and Amusement Park: The team enjoyed their visit to the Rotary sponsored children’s amusement park. This amusement park is the only one of its kind in Kalol and provides children and their families with a free place to enjoy themselves. The team had a fantastic time meeting the many families, playing ball with the children and experiencing each one of the rides!
After a busy and exciting day, the team enjoyed a lovely evening at the Rotary Club of Kalol where they delivered their presentation and networked with many Rotarians. After an enjoyable evening the team are now on their way to Ahmedabad to meet their new host families.
