Ranthambhore National Park Tiger Sanctuary

Just when we thought our time in India couldn’t get any better!  We awoke at 6am and set off into the national park on an open top jeep at 6:30am.  We approached the entrance to the park just as the sun was beginning to rise in the sky.  Dressed in warm coats and blankets, the temperature was somewhat chilly for the first hour of our tour and having been told that sightings of tigers only typically occurred once or twice a week, we were prepared for a little disappointment.  However, our tour was absolutely spectacular; deer, antelope, wild boar and crocodiles juxtaposed with some of the most beautiful scenery one could possibly imagine, made this one our best experiences yet.
Our rangers rallied around the narrow dusty paths in search of the most sought after animal of them all, the tiger.  Just when the team had begin to give up hope, there was much shouting and gesticulation between drivers and we were off on a high speed chase following a set of footsteps.  And there it was a mere stone’s throw away, the most magnificent bright orange coloured tiger.  We were some of the luckiest people to visit the park as there have been no sightings of tigers for several days.  The pictures below say it all.  The team returned back to the hotel at 10am to shower and prepare to leave for Kota.
