We have arrived!

After an extended 12 hour flight the team has finally arrived into Delhi.  We had an unplanned 3 hour stopover in Ankara, Turkey due to a passenger emergency where the plane had to be de-iced and refuelled.  Upon arrival in Delhi and a somewhat protracted wait at immigration control, we were finally on our way to the Crowne Plaza Oklha Hotel in Delhi downtown.  Our short 40 minute journey from the airport to our overnight accommodation was truly eye-opening and fascinating.  Travelling in a vehicle similar in age and condition to a Morris Minor we had our first experience of travelling on Indian roads.  The busy overcrowded lanes juxtaposed with each car fighting for every square inch of space made for an exciting hair raising journey.  The constant noise of car horns, weaving in and out of different lanes, driving on the wrong side of the road, yes that’s right, we are in downtown Delhi!
The hotel was beautiful and the service impeccable.  The people we have met in the last 12 hours have been so friendly, sincere and polite with a ‘nothing is too much trouble’ approach.  Matched by the excellent quality of both traditional Indian and western food we had the most enjoyable and relaxing stay, resting by the swimming pool, spa and sauna.
