Team Leader Weekly Review: Tuesday 24th January 2012

I hope you are all enjoying the blog and that it showcases the amazing experience we are having. We have just completed week one and no funny tummies so far ! It was great to have a weekend with the NZ team as they come near to the end of their exchange and it proved useful to compare notes with their team leader Libby. Libby and I were able to renew our friendship after our first meeting in NZ in October 2011 and she has provided me with lots of tips for our visit. The NZ and UK teams bonded well and the noise levels on the bus was often deafening! The opportunity for these young people from opposite sides of the world to experience fellowship and fun in a new country courtesy of Rotary International is fantastic. We have said our fare wells to them and now we start our own journey- the road trip of a lifetime! The UK team members have bonded so well and I am so proud of them. We are often out of our comfort zones and each of us has learnt something new about ourselves that will change us forever. We all have a role within the team: Ben is our Chief IT and blog officer, Sophie is the photographer extraordinaire, Cassie is our animal protection officer and beauty products consultant , Anna our communications officer  and counsellor when I cannot work out how to use my Indian mobile,  and as my roommate for now,  my general carer to make sure I wake up and find the things I lose or forget! ( this role is shared between the girls).  Finally Graham for being the teams  walking talking encyclopaedia and  chief calming officer when things have got a bit fraught.  I just need to say a big thank you to all our hosts in Jaipur for looking after us so well- we love our new Indian families and will be sad to leave them on Thursday but we will be back for a day on February 19th and plan to celebrate  mine and Grahams birthdays in style!!
More from me next week
